So I was browsing ANN's list of Spring 2012 anime premieres and um.

Lupin III - The Woman Called Fujiko Mine

UM.

Director: Sayo Yamamoto (Michiko to Hatchin)
Animation Director / Character Designer: Takeshi Koike (Redline)
Series Composition: Mari Okada (AnoHana, Simoun)

... IJUSTCAME

And the woman voicing Fujiko also did the voice of Celty from Durarara. GHH.

Also in the service of the MG Project, I took a look at the Magical Girl shows coming out this season, and dear god is it a depressing sight. Jewelpet season 4 and Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream season 2. That's it. BARF.

But at least Smile Pretty Cure will still be airing! And it's pretty awesome.

(Also in terms of animated fare for young children, Jewel Pet really isn't that bad.)

I think you'll like Smile a lot. The characters are really great and they all have some sort of traditional super-power in addition to the normal Pretty Cure stuff (i.e. Cure Sunny has super strength, Cure Peace has lightning powers, Cure March has super speed, etc.). The villains are pretty boring so far, but I dunno, maybe they'll get better. I never really watch Pretty Cure series for the villains anyway - it's nice when we get a great villain like Dune, but they don't seem to come along that often - because it's really the girls and their relationships and their badass fighting that sells me on the franchise, and Smile has all of that in spades.
